December 31st

Last appointment of the year!! Today we had a regular doctor's check up. Got to hear the heart beats and it was lightning fast to find 'em all! Baby A was 150 bpm, Baby B and C were ar 163 bpm! Everything is looking great!

We found out that Shara will definitely out of work at 20 weeks. That means that Shara's last day will be January 16th! That is fast approaching, so we have lots to do beforehand!

Shara is doing well, but started to feel the effects of carrying three little ones! Her belly seems to get bigger every day and she tires really easily. Don't fret though, she is in great hands =o)

This weekend is a big planning weekend so we can figure out all the things we need to do and buy. Lots of things to think about. So if anyone has ideas, always feel free to share!

That is it for now, time for some breakfast!

Have a great and safe new year's eve, we can't wait to see what 2009 brings, hahaha!

December 22nd

Hello 16 weeks! Time has been flying the past 2 weeks and it was time for another detailed ultrasound. I have posted all of the pics below in a slightly different format. Simply click on the pictures and you will see a much larger version of each baby's set of pics. For the record, you will notice the pictures say 15 weeks 5 days, but they have the wrong date in there, as we are really 16 weeks, and they are supposed to correct it.

So, what a great appointment! Today was the first ultrasound where the sonographer actually did more than crown to rump measurements. In fact, the SD3 are too big for those measurements now. They got there heads, bellies and thigh bones measured instead! It was so cool to see all the different parts. We got to see brain matter, kidneys, stomachs, bladders and spines. They don't have any fat on them yet, so you will see basically skulls in the pictures this week. Because A and C are looking right at us, they look like aliens. A little freaky, but we are promised that will change, hahah!

The heart beats were all strong, in the 150's to 160's bpm. We even got to find out their weights! Baby A is 6 oz., Baby B is 5 oz., and Baby C is 5oz. They are all measuring right where they are supposed to!

We go back in 2 weeks for a cervix check again, and back in 4 weeks for the 1st Level II ultrasound. At 20 weeks, this exam will be over 2 hours long and we should know the sexes then! Not even a month away, it is so crazy!

Shara is doing great. Her belly is getting bigger all the time and I think she will be able to feel them moving very soon. She is a gorgeous pregnant woman and I love her more every day that passes, even when it is snack time at 4am!

We hope everyone has a great holiday season and from our family, we are wishing you and yours all the best.

December 17th

Today was Doctor's Appointment Day, woo hoo!

We got to hear the heart beats with the Doppler again. It is not easy trying to find all three of the babies compared to one, but they did! All hearts are beating great and strong. Everything else is going well, along with Shara's nausea which is subsiding nicely. About time! Now we can keep feeding those little ones without worrying of losing all the food ;o)

Shara is now 15 weeks, 2 days along, but the doctor says her belly/uterus is the size that a single pregnancy would be at at 26 - 28 weeks! That is good as it means the babies are growing like they should and there is space for them! She is definitely showing already. I am hoping Shara lets me take a couple pictures of her progress in a few weeks so we can let everyone see! For now that is our little secret, hahaha!

We have a full ultrasound this coming Monday where they will do measurements and the whole kit and kaboodle. It should be a nice early Christmas present to see all those cuties!

Everyone is asking, so I better make sure to include this part. We should know the sex of the babies by January 22nd is my guess. We will be letting everyone know as soon as we find out, as we are not definitely not keeping it a secret!

Well, that is about it for now. Talk to you next week!!!

December 10th

BIG day today! Today was the first ultra sounds of the SD3 in their 2nd trimester! This looked awesome! They are all moving around like crazy, in fact Baby A took forever to get a heart rate from as he wouldn't stop moving! The hearts rates are great at 167, 167 and 150 bpm. You can actually tell why as A and B were all excited, whereas Baby C was chilling more, but still managed to go from being on his back to his face during the U/S!! We were so amazed at the progress they have been making. The ultrasounds below show what we mean, but you can really see their spines and body parts, it was so cool! The doctor looked at the pictures and said everything looked great.

Shara's cervix is holding its own which is right where we want to be. Shara is doing well, the nausea subsided, for about 5 days, then has come back with a vengeance! The doctors are taking great care of her and are very cautious. She is now taking blood pressure readings twice a day through a home monitoring service. It is a pain in the rear, but it is really important to ensure her health remains steady and preeclampsia is detected early on if it is there. The doctors have stated that 20 weeks will be the cut off to start bed rest. We are getting more details on what that exactly entails, but if you want to see my lovely wife outside of our house, you better hurry!

My project plan is coming together. It is almost time to get it reviewed and get items assigned to everyone. I am still waiting for volunteers, as no one other than family has come forward, hahaha! Just kidding. Anyway, I hope you like the pictures!!!

December 3rd

Today we had our Doctor's Appointment. We got to hear the heart beats today! We were not sure if the Doppler would work for us, but because the babies are in three nicely separated areas, the nurse was able to get readings on all of them!! The bpm ranged from the high 150's to the mid 170's which is right on the money. It was so uplifting to know they were all chugging along!

We sorted out confusion on due dates today as well, and pretty much confirmed that the due date in June 5th. The actually delivery date is going to be sooner, but an accurate due date is important to know so we can have an accurate gestation age. So, the triplets are 13 weeks and 2 days along! How time flies! We have an ultrasound next week as well, so we are quite excited to see how the little ones are progressing.

As for Shara's health, she is doing great! Besides still being quite nauseous (McDonald's was quite unkind to Shara this past weekend), Shara is gaining weight at the rate she is supposed to, her blood work is great too, save for needing to take iron supplements now. The doctors are great and really want to look out for Shara. We will be getting a home blood pressure monitor just to be safe. Shara's pressure is good, but it has fluctuated in the past and they are overly cautious. It is amazing the amount of care we are getting. The nurse we see is awesome too. It has been a great experience with them thus far.

We are starting to get plans developed for the arrival of the SD3. I have actually started a Project Plan to keep us organized and focused. I know, it is over the top, but that's how I roll ;o) So much to do, and time is not a-plenty! For all those family and friends out there, don't fret, I will have your names beside a few action points soon! HAHA! That is about it for now. Keep checking back and leave your comments, we love to read them!

November 26th

What a great day! Today we had an ultrasound....

Everything went great!!!! Shara is about 12.5 weeks along and the babies are doing great! They all measured really well (all about 6 cm) and their heart beats were great too (167 bpm, 163 bpm, 167bpm).

This was a huge milestone for us. The first pregnancy was found to be miscarried just before this stage. so seeing 3 peanuts doing the jig today was quite exciting! They were all very active. We saw two arms, two legs, mouth, bladders and stomachs on each! It was unbelievable!! We are on cloud nine right now.

Our doctor's visit is next week, but our next ultrasound isn't for 4 weeks! We can't wait to see the changes!

As for Shara, she is still pretty nauseous and tired, but in great spirits. She is funnier and cuter than ever!

I posted some ultrasounds below. I wanted everyone to get a feel for how far the St. Denis Three has come. They are at the point where trying to get them all in one picture doesn't really work, so you will see more and more individual shots. Enjoy them! If you click on the pictures they will show a larger version. I hope you like them!!

Talk to you next week!

November 17th

We just got back from a weekend in Montreal and I believe the ABCs love Smoked Meat Sandwiches! We had a great time with the only issue being the Canadiens lost the hockey game. Great food and relaxing times were just what the doctor ordered.

Speaking of which, we did go to get an ultrasound on Friday before we left for Montreal, just to check everything out. All is well and it is amazing to see the differences already. Baby A enjoys lying on its head and was doing some jumping around for the camera! We can't wait for next week to see even more! I will be posting week to week ultrasound pictures after Thanksgiving as we are off to Toronto that weekend.

This weekend we are off to Washington DC to see Shara's brother Chad and his girlfriend Sarah. Man, the little peanuts are only 11 weeks along, but they sure get around!!!

November 12th

So today was Shara's first real appointment with the doctors that will see us through to delivery! Things went great and we are set up for our upcoming appointments. We have an ultrasound in 2 weeks and the next doctor's visit in 3 weeks. It is going to be strange waiting a whole two weeks as we have been seen by the specialists every week up until now. We can't wait! The "Alphabet" will be 12 weeks along by then (knock on wood!). The ultrasound is scheduled to take an hour and a half. From here on, appointments are going to be long as they have triple the work! 12 weeks is a huge milestone, we are so excited to get there!

We also got a list of all the triplet mothers that have been, or are being seen at the same office as us. We will be able to connect with them. This is really great as who knows better on what to do than the people that are doing it!

Keep those wishes flowing!

Week of November 10th

Shara is now 10 weeks along and we have our first official perinatal appointment coming up this week. We will be with the perinatal for the long haul to ensure everything goes as smooth as possible.

As an update on how Shara is doing, the word is nausea. Lots and lots of nausea. It comes and goes all day and the slightest bad smell will send her reeling. Poor thing is tough though as she manages a smile on her face throughout it all.

Stay tuned!

First Post

Okay, so here we go! Just to get the back story straight, here's the scoop.

I am Mike and my wife's name is Shara. We met almost 5 years ago and have been trying to start a family for almost 2 years Through fertility medicine we were able to get pregnant. Here's where the story gets good. There are three of them in there! TRIPLETS!!

Shara is 9.5 weeks pregnant and everything is going great right now. We are very excited and nervous at the same time. This is our first crack at this blogging thing, but hopefully we will be able to use it to keep all of our family and friends informed, as well as share our experience with anyone else who wants to hop in for the ride!

We will get some ultrasound pictures posted in the coming weeks, but for now, keep your fingers crossed for us and the St. Denis Three!!!
